Here at Cloud Music Suite we’re excited to have many wonderful musicians on our instructional team to provide you with the best learning experience! To give you a better idea of who they are as individuals we’ve taken this opportunity to ask them a few questions about their musical careers.

Today we’re hearing from Nathan Marti, who offers lessons for marching snare drum, drumset and more! Check out his profile on our website for further information on lessons and his background. We hope you enjoy hearing from Nathan today!

What instrument do you play and teach? How long have you played and taught?

“I play and teach drum set, as well as the marching snare, tenor, and bass drum. I have been drumming for a little over a decade, and teaching for just over a year.”

What musical extracurriculars have you participated in? Do you continue to participate in any?

“I marched for my high school, as well as two A and Open class WGI groups. I have and continue to play with a local jazz group. I also instruct middle and high school students in percussion, within school programs and through private lessons.”

What has been the most memorable moment in your musical career?

“It's impossible to choose one moment. Simply playing music in any capacity with people I am very close to is one of the greatest joys I've experienced in my lifetime.”

What is the most valuable skill you learned from music that has transferred into the rest of your life?

“The importance of my mental state at a given moment. Many practice and performance environments offer lots of opportunities to get distracted and inconsistent in my awareness and attention, during which the often high demand of musical ability requires me to be the opposite. Especially within the marching arts, this has brought me to spend copious amounts of time bringing my mental state to the forefront of my attention.”

When do you find the most fulfillment in your playing?

“In either deliberate or impromptu bouts of improv with one or a group of musicians. I always feel as if I'm bearing witness to the beauty of the raw and unabashed spontaneity of music in the most direct way.”

What is your favorite part of teaching?

“Seeing someone grow right in front of my eyes. I use watering flowers as an analogy for the growth of musicianship quite often, and witnessing the seeds gradually sprout and blossom firsthand is a sight unlike any other.”

Cloud Music Suite is absolutely blessed to have a deep selection of amazing instructors such as Nathan who bring a wide range of experiences and skills to the table to enrich the lives of their students! Sign up for lessons with Nathan or shoot him a message from his profile page on our platform!
