Here at Cloud Music Suite we’re excited to have many wonderful musicians on our instructional team to provide you with the best learning experience! To give you a better idea of who they are as individuals we’ve taken this opportunity to ask them a few questions about their musical careers.

Today we’re hearing from LaToya Johnson, who offers lessons for clarinet, flute, and saxophone! Check out her profile on our website for further information on lessons and her background. We hope you enjoy hearing about LaToya today!

What instrument do you play and teach? How long have you played and taught?

“As a woodwind doubler, I offer lessons to students who play the flute, clarinet, and saxophone. However my primary instrument is the Clarinet, which I have played for 21 years!”

What musical extracurriculars have you participated in? Do you continue to participate in any?

“My favorite musical extracurriculars over the years have been my time spent performing with various community orchestras, including the Florence Symphony Orchestra, Carolinas Wind Orchestra, and within various church orchestra groups. I thoroughly enjoy the one-on-one time I get to spend with young musicians through private lessons, and group work within the Marvin Ridge Cluster of Concert and Marching Bands.”

What is the most valuable skill you learned from music that has transferred into the rest of your life?

“The study of music has taught me the importance of preparation. Preparation for me means time management, personal reflection, and placing value on fundamentals. After that, everything else falls into place! I take this approach in my general life as well. If I do what I should and what is right, I don't have to worry about the rest.”

When do you find the most fulfillment in your playing?

“I find the most fulfillment in my playing when the listener feels. To witness a smile, a tear, or a head nod means I have done my job and brought the music to life.”

What is your favorite part of teaching?

“My favorite part of teaching is growth! We all experience success differently and we take various paths to get to our specific version of success. When I see a student progress from their starting point, no matter how big or small those steps are, my heart is full. Guiding them toward their individual potential is my mission.”

Cloud Music Suite is absolutely blessed to have a deep selection of amazing instructors such as LaToya who bring a wide range of experiences and skills to the table to enrich the lives of their students! Sign up for lessons with LaToya or shoot her a message from her profile page on our platform!
