Meet the Instructor: Andrew Sokolowski

What instrument do you play and teach? How long have you played and taught?

“I’ve played Trumpet primarily for over a decade and have been teaching for 5 years.”

What musical extracurriculars have you participated in? Do you continue to participate in any?

“I am in the United States Army Reserve Band as a Trumpet player and I’m also the vocalist for our country music band ‘Wildcat Creek.’”

What has been the most memorable moment in your musical career?

“I’ve been very fortunate to have many memorable moments in my music career. Whether it be playing across the country, playing for important commanders, watching my marching band’s shows, or meeting some of the greatest musicians alive, every moment in music has been memorable in its own unique way.”

When do you find the most fulfillment in your playing?

“I find the most fulfillment in my live performances. Whether I’m singing or playing trumpet, there is nothing better than the feeling of giving an amazing show to people who wanted to hear your music. Music is the vehicle I use to convey emotions, communicate, and tell stories to my listeners.”

What is your favorite part of teaching?

“The best part about teaching is that I get the opportunity to reveal one of the greatest secrets in music: “Anyone can be a musician”. Music isn’t about natural-born talent or a stroke-of-luck. Music is about drive, passion, commitment, emotion, telling stories, and the pursuit of something ‘more.’”
